About the Author

In my career, I have been a newspaper reporter, an editor, a freelance writer and an author. This background has given me experience working as a staff member and as an independent contractor capable of conceiving, executing and delivering on deadline the articles assigned to me or ones I conceived.

Past:

  • 1987

I accepted the position as Boulder’s first press liaison officer. My duties were primarily to serve as the city’s spokesman to the media.

After the publication of my third book, Taj Mahal, Autobiography of a Bluesman, I devoted myself full-time to writing books.

  • 1984
I returned to the United States and settled in Boulder, where I became the City Hall reporter and city editor for the Colorado Daily.

  • 1980 - 1984
I lived aboard, primarily in England and Sweden.

  • 1970 - 1973

In 1970, I co-founded and served as editor of the Denver weekly alterative newspaper, The Straight Creek Journal.

I left the newspaper to pursue freelance writing. I published in numerous national and international newspapers and magazines, mostly as a travel writer and doing personality profiles.

  • 1966 - 1968
I began my writing career as a police reporter in Chicago for the City News Bureau
